There are many thriving sections within Clyne ensuring that all our members have regular access to competative golf and social events.
Mens’ Section
We offer a wide variety of weekend competitions for men of all levels of handicap throughout the year.
As well as a healthy mix of medals, stablefords, better balls and other team competitions there are summer knockout competitions in all formats – individual (scratch and handicap), pairs and mixed.
Every Tuesday and Thursday there is a popular Men’s Diddly which tees off at 11.30am and new members are always made to feel very welcome.
The Winter League is played in a four-ball-better-ball format from October through to March teeing off on Sundays between 8am and 9am and again new members are very much encouraged to join in.
Clyne also has active team sections with men of all handicaps able to participate in a number of teams within the Glamorgan leagues.
Ladies’ Section
Clyne has a very active Ladies Section with over 60 lady members, many of whom play on a regular basis. Read more here.
Vets Section
The Veterans Section is open to all male members aged 55 and over and the section prides itself on its friendly atmosphere.
Golf within the Veterans Society includes singles, pairs and team competitions, inter club matches home and away, away and open days as well as three dinners including the AGM in March.
Inter club matches against 9 local clubs are played as 4 BBBs on a friendly basis with the emphasis being on giving everyone who applies to play an equal opportunity with low and higher handicappers paired together where possible. The events conclude with a meal and provide an excellent opportunity to play other courses at a fraction of the normal cost followed by a convivial social occasion.
Stones Section
This is the dedicated section of men and women golfers with a handicap of 18 and over and Clyne Golf Club has one of the most active Stones sections in the area.
It is the ideal forum for those relatively new to golf – including juniors – to improve their game, as well as offering more experienced members, or those returning to golf, the opportunity to compete on a weekly basis with members of similar ability.
From April through to October there is a nine hole competition run every Monday afternoon and evening.
It also provides the opportunity to play competitive team golf against Stones teams of other clubs in the area. In addition, the section runs various annual Stones competitions, normally two “away-days” a year visiting other golf clubs and a variety of social functions. Members within the handicap range are strongly encouraged to join – your club needs you, and it’s great fun!
